Niger State Government Sets Ambitious Plans for State owned Media Transformation.

By Yahaya Zakka Minna

In a significant move to enhance the effectiveness of state-owned media, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has committed to revitalizing the media organisations across the State.

During a recent courtesy visit from the National executives of the Radio, Television, Theatre, and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) at the Government House in Minna, Governor Bago emphasized the importance of modernizing these outlets.

To spearhead this initiative, the state government is currently undertaking a power audit of various media organizations to identify high-consuming equipment.

This assessment will facilitate a transition from reliance on the national grid to a more sustainable mini-grid system. “We are dedicated to revamping Radio Niger and Niger State Television to bring them back to prominence”.

Governor Bago stated, “Power is critical, and we are committed to making this transition.”

The Governor also highlighted his administration’s goal of fostering a partnership with the media to improve public awareness and understanding of governmental programs and policies.

Hajiya Binta Mamman, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, echoed the Governor’s dedication, stressing that revamping the state’s media organisations will enhance outreach and ensure effective dissemination of information regarding government initiatives
