Reps to Host Inaugural National Policy Dialogue on the 10th House Legislative Agenda

The House of Representatives, in partnership with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), is set to convene the Inaugural National Policy Dialogue on the Legislative Agenda of the 10th House of Representatives. The event is scheduled as follows:

Date:
Monday, May 12, 2025

Time:
10:00 a.m. prompt (All guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m.)

Venue:
Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja

During the event, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., GCON, will present the *Mid-Term Report Card* of the 10th House and lead discussions with key stakeholders on important national policy and legislative priorities.

At the start of the 10th Assembly, the leadership of the House established an Ad-Hoc Committee responsible for developing a comprehensive Legislative Agenda.

This strategic decision aimed to ensure coherence, policy alignment, and a results-oriented legislative approach that resonates with the aspirations of the Nigerian people.

The Legislative Agenda, adopted in November 2023, has since served as a guiding framework for the House’s legislative efforts, directing lawmaking, oversight, and representative responsibilities in a structured and impactful manner.

The eight strategic priority areas outlined in the Agenda are as follows:
1. Strengthening Good Governance
2. Improving National Security
3. Law Reform
4. Economic Growth and Development
5. Social Sector Reform and Development
6. Inclusion and Open Parliament
7. Influencing Nigeria’s Foreign Policy
8. Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability

This National Policy Dialogue, supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, represents a significant opportunity for reflection and future planning, aimed at deepening collaboration with stakeholders in government, civil society, the private sector, and the international development community.
