300 PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT ACROSS NIGER STATE

By Yahaya Zakka Minna

Three hundred individuals, including women, youths, and students from public schools across Niger State, have benefited from essential agricultural inputs.

The distributed items included seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides, livestock feeds, and various farming equipment.

The distribution was officially launched by the wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, in Minna.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, along with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, as well as the Niger State government.

During the launch, Hajiya Fatima Bago described the initiative as “planting for the future,” emphasizing its aim to empower women and youths.

She noted that unlocking their potential could transform the agricultural sector and secure the nation’s future.

The Niger State First Lady highlighted that the program covers various areas of agriculture, including crop farming, livestock production, poultry, and aquaculture, among others.

She stressed that providing women and youths with the necessary agricultural tools would help them thrive, strengthen food production, and create a more inclusive and resilient agricultural economy that contributes to national food security.

Hajiya Fatima Bago expressed gratitude to the founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Niger State government, and all others who contributed significantly to the program’s success.

She urged the beneficiaries to use the inputs wisely, encouraging them to make their farms models of excellence and to inspire others with their success stories, which will be monitored.

Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje, Special Adviser to the Governor of Niger State on Women Affirmative Action, stated that the program aligns with the New Niger Agenda of the Governor, aiming to harness the full potential of citizens—especially women—by equipping them to drive agricultural development and ensure food security.

She commended the efforts of both the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Niger State First Lady for creating opportunities for women at the grassroots level through proactive engagement.

Out of the 300 beneficiaries, 100 are women, another 100 are youths, and the remaining 100 are students from selected public schools, aiming to revitalize agricultural education.

In their goodwill messages, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed, the Commissioner for Basic Education, and Mrs. Victoria Alkali Yakubu, Chairperson of the Nigeria Women in Agriculture, Niger State Chapter, expressed appreciation to the current administration for its ongoing support for women and for including public schools in agricultural activities.

Symbolic presentations of the items were made to select beneficiaries, including representatives from public schools.

Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the organizers and pledged to make effective use of the tools to enhance agriculture in Niger State.
