NURA YERIMA AND THE CACOPHONY OF HIS CO-TRAVELLERS
My attention has been drawn to a tiktok content by one Nura Yerima, wherein he called for the replacement of Comrade Yakubu Garba as the running mate to Farmer (Dr.) Umaru Mohammed Bago come 2027. Save for backlashes from well wishers of the Comrade and the need for poignant reminders, I wouldn’t have glorified Yerima with a response.
Many are infuriated at the call of Nura Yerima for the replacement of the Deputy Governor come 2027. However, it is a betrayal of our democratic creed and a deflation of Iman (Faith) if anyone is worried by his cacophony and those of his co-travellers. In a democratic setting, citizens have the inalienable right to express their feelings about any subject of interest, we respect Yerima’s right to free speech.
The Deputy Governor is not averse to criticism. He believes people would always jostle for political offices, moreso, the position of the Deputy Governor. It is within the right of every citizen to align with any interest that would serve their prejudices. At every electioneering, elective offices must have contenders, and the office of the Deputy Governor can not be an exception.
By his own admittance, Nura Yerima said he is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and he supported and voted Isah Liman Kantigi in the 2023 general elections. It arose my curiosisty as to why a memebr of the PDP is losing sleep over who becomes a running mate of the APC in 2027. Certainly, this is an attestation of Yerima’s buffoonery and his lack of locus standi to comment on issues of who gets what in the All Progressives Congress.
The infantile Nura Yerima should be reminded that the internal wrangling in the PDP is enough headache for him and his paymasters, if indeed they have any iota of political shame. Yerima is not more than a clown and an attention seeker, otherwise, how else would a member of the PDP be fixated at the choice of Bago’s running mate in 2027?
For the umpteenth time, Comrade Yakubu Garba is preoccupied with the task of complimenting the efforts of Farmer (Dr.) Umaru Mohammed Bago in delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerlites. He is not perturbed by any call for his replacement or otherwise, the task of good governance is the priority, not 2027.
As a man of Iman (Faith), the Deputy Governor is not oblivious of the fact that Allah alone gives power to whom He wish at the appointed time. Yerima and his enablers should be reminded that the Deputy Governor lost his beautiful and supportive wife while still being a Deputy Governor, and the Deputy Governor too could drop dead the next minute even before the 2027, this alone is enough lesson for any discerning mind.
Nura should channel his advises to his Peoples Democratic Party that is on life support without any assurances that the party would field a governorship candidate in 2027. The All Progressives Congress is not bereft of valuable perspectives on who becomes the Deputy Governorship candidate in 2027.
