NAWOJ Niger State Chapter Calls for Unity and Peace

NAWOJ Niger State Chapter Calls for Unity and Peace

At the inaugural Caretaker Congress Meeting of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), held at the IBB Pen House in Minna, the Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee, Hajiya Asabe Garba, delivered a compelling appeal for unity, understanding, and collective responsibility as the association strives to restore stability and progress.

In a Press statement by the Secretary of the Caretaker committee,Maimuna Raji Egigogo and made available to Journalists in Minna,said, Hajiya Asabe underscored the significance of peace and mutual respect, characterizing the gathering as a “Peace Congress.”

She urged members to refrain from fostering division and instead embrace dialogue, unity, and the peaceful principles espoused by all religious teachings.

“We must believe in destiny and work with sincerity. This is not the time for division. All religions preach peace, and that is what this Congress stands for,” she stated.

Hajiya Asabe reiterated the trust placed in the caretaker committee by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), affirming the committee’s commitment to its mandate.

“We are not here to stay forever. As soon as stability is restored within NAWOJ, we will conduct free and fair elections,” she assured.

She also called upon all members to support the committee’s initiatives, emphasizing that “Our efforts will not be sufficient without your support. We will include everyone in our plans, and with your cooperation, we will achieve our goals.”

Encouraging constructive feedback, Hajiya Asabe highlighted that progress cannot be attained without input from members, reiterating the committee’s openness to suggestions aimed at strengthening the association.

The Chairperson also announced plans for advocacy visits and engagement with veteran members of the association in the upcoming weeks.

This Congress meeting marked a pivotal moment for healing and rebuilding within NAWOJ, with members expressing renewed optimism for unity and professionalism under the caretaker leadership. Niger State Chapter Calls for Unity and Peace
