ECWA debunks reports of any crisis in the Church,Says reports of disquiet in the church over the reinstatement of Pastor Azaki is untrue, malicious
From Our Correspondent.
The Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA) Wuse 11 Abuja has strongly reacted to some media reports alleging that the church has been hit with leadership crisis following the reinstatement of the senior pastor of the church, Rev. Dr. Nashon Azaki, describing such reports as untrue and malicious and a hand work of some few disgruntle elements whose intention is to bring the name of the church to disrepute.
The church did not only debunked the reports, it specifically accused some few members of waging war against the church, using the media as their weapon to bring the House of the lord and its leadership down by all means.
The church in a statement jointly signed by some founding members of the church, a copy which was made available to newsmen, accused some 28 members of the church who had earlier petitioned the senior pastor to the ECWA headquarters alleging sexual harassment of mischief, stressing that the said allegation was investigated and found to be untrue and baseless.
“It is good that we set the record straight, the claim that “ECWA Wuse II members” is an erroneous toga, as the so called concerned members are only 28 members out of a 3,000 membership of the Church and out of which some have come out to disclaim the concerned member group insisting their names and signatures were forged on the said petition”.
The founding members in their submission, described the attitude of these 28 individual which they said is driven by personal gains as very unfortunate, stressing that “They find it difficult to accept the outcome of three separate independent investigative Committees set up at different levels of Church hierarchy to look into their petition against the Senior Pastor”.
According to the statement, while the church has put the event behind and has decided to forge ahead with the gospel after the senior pastor was exonerated of any wrong doing, “this same group of 28 has decided to engage the man of God in a media trial and giving the entire church a bad name just for personal gain”.
The statement pointed out that “over the past one month or so now, some group of 28 people ganged up to demand the removal of the Senior Pastor of ECWA Wuse II, Rev Dr. Nashon Azaki, in a cult-like manner.
This came as a rude shock to the members of the Church who hitherto have been bustling in the joy of the Lord and living in love, peace and unity with one another.
“In line with the practices of the Church, a Committee was set to investigate the allegations which were later found to be false.
This group of belligerent persons, after being unable to substantiate their allegations has now in the past days resorted to engaging in media trial of the Senior Pastor”.
The statement added further that “They are albeit vehemently bent on pulling the Church down if the Senior Pastor is not by all means transferred out of the Church in order for them to continue in their self-aggrandizement and corrupt practices which they perceived the accused Senior Pastor is opposed to and cannot be condoned under his watch”.
The group of founding members expressed regret that despite the intervention by some very respected founding members of the church to assuage them and see reasons why the senior pastor should be left alone after being exonerated by the commitee, “The activities of the faceless and cult-like group of people under the banner of ‘Concerned Members’ have now resorted to attack the Church in a barrage of media assaults and mudslinging even the leadership of the Church at the state level (DCC).
“Some of us have been in the Church for over 40 years (1987) and can tell you for free that the arrow heads of this self appointed concerned members are not doing what they are doing for any spiritual import but rather engaging: in a struggle for individual economic patronage at the expense of expedient use of Church funds which the Pastor with the support of Elders’ Board have vowed to resist as a duty to God Almighty”.
Contrary to the insinuation by these concerned members of disquiet among church members, they added that “there is massive celebration, joy overflow and various demonstration of thanksgiving contrary to their claims. We are happy and grateful to be in the House of the Lord today, as always.
“Raising false alarm is one of their stock in trade as we have seen exhibited by their Convener. The notion being created by the concerned members that there is an uneasy calm at ECWA Wuse II is false and phantom”.
The statement maintained that the concern and responsibility to God and His Church is to set the record straight as founding m members of the ECWA Wuse II and by this “we are imploring the entire ECWA members worldwide not to be alarmed or disturbed by the activities of this dissidents amongst us”, it stated.
The statement therefore urged all believers in the Church of God to remember that such characters have been in the Church since the time of our Lord Jesus Christ and only with prayers and a lot of patience will the church continue to bear with them trusting God Almighty will one day touch them and give them a changed heart.
While urging the public to disregard what they called campaign of calumny orchestrated by this faceless group “The recent media attacks and all the unwholesome narratives they are peddling around are all baseless”, adding however that “The success of the New Year Thanksgiving on Sunday 30/03/2025 is a testimony to the ongoing move of the hand of God in the running of the Church to the testimony of all.
“As bonafide founding members of the ECWA Wuse II, we wish to let the world know the following: That the so called concerned members of the Church are not more concerned than some of us who have particularly decided to abide by the tenets of our faith by accepting the report of the panels in good faith.
“We also make bold to say that we personally know these concerned members to be people coming from the position of bitterness and struggle to hold the Church to ransom by their demands which we at the Justice , Truth and Fairness, JTF, feel if we don’t confront head-on may give room for them to achieve their sinister and mischievous plans of hijacking the leadership of the Church in order to continue their sharp practices as regards cornering the Church finances and properties through fraudulent auctions and sales to cronies and family members alike.
“That the activities of the concerned members are not biblical nor in consonance with ECWA Constitution and as such their motive, purpose and allegiance are highly questionable and leave much to be desired as Christians. We therefore want to appeal to the general public to henceforth disregard any form of disinformation and misleading publication from the crop of people who ordinarily should know better.
“As bonafide members of ECWA Wuse II, we should all continue to abide by the decision of our leaders and keep supporting the arms of the Church to maintain and sustain the good and credible work of growing a heavenly minded congregation which the Senior Pastor, Rev. Nashon Azaki, PHD has been doing satisfactorily since assumption as our Senior Pastor about 5 years ago. See Heb 4:13”, the statement added.
