Tribute to a Dedicated Leader: The Passing o Former NUT Sec Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Taraba State Chapter, has announced the untimely passing of its esteemed former Secretary and former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu.
This heartfelt announcement was made through a press release signed by the NUT Taraba State Chairman, Comrade Nathan Solomon, and shared with Newsmen in Jalingo on Tuesday.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu, a dedicated advocate for teachers and a key figure in the educational landscape of Taraba State,” the statement reads. The Union expressed that his death represents a significant loss not only to the educational community but to the entire state.
Rt. Hon. Shimpu was renowned for his unwavering commitment to public service and the enhancement of education in Taraba State.
As Secretary of the NUT, he fervently defended the rights and welfare of teachers, tirelessly advocating for improved working conditions and quality education during his tenure.
Comrade Nathan Solomon further elaborated on Shimpu’s impactful leadership, noting that his contributions extended beyond the union into his prominent role as Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, where he upheld principles of integrity and dedication to state development.
The NUT, Taraba State Chapter, extends its deepest condolences to the state government, the people of Taraba, and the family of Rt. Hon. Simon Shimpu. “We share in your grief and pray for strength and comfort in these challenging times,” the Union expressed.
In tribute to Shimpu’s legacy, the Union encourages all educators and citizens to reflect on his significant contributions and to embrace the values he championed throughout his life.
