Amotekun Returns 114 Northerners Rounded Up in Ondo to Their States.

The Amotekun security outfit in Ondo State has deported approximately 114 individuals, primarily from Northern Nigeria, for allegedly entering the state’s forests illegally.
According to the State Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, these individuals were found being transported in two trucks, en route to various forested areas, including Ore and Ofosu.
Adeleye, during a media briefing, explained that security agencies have increased operations in recent weeks to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering Ondo State’s forests.
He mentioned that the governor had instructed security personnel to remove anyone who could not provide a valid reason for being in the deep forest regions.
He also disclosed that several weapons, including locally made firearms, were recovered from the individuals, who were reportedly using the forests as a base to launch attacks before retreating.
Adeleye stated that a thorough profiling process was conducted, revealing that, aside from three individuals, none could explain their final destination or purpose in the forests.
The Amotekun commander emphasized that while freedom of movement is a constitutional right, it must be exercised for legitimate purposes.
He noted that the governor had ordered the immediate return of the individuals to their respective states of origin.
During the press conference, Adeleye displayed some of the confiscated weapons.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Hausa community in Ondo State, Bala Umaru, praised the government for prioritizing security and ensuring the safe return of the individuals to their home states.
The individuals have since been transported back to various locations across the country.
