You Have Not Disappointed Nigerians, Lagos Imam Tells Tinubu

From Our Correspondent

President Bola Tinubu attended the Jumat prayer at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos on Friday afternoon, joining the Muslim faithful in worship.

This marked the President’s first public appearance since he participated in prayers at the Alausa Central Mosque the previous Friday.

During his sermon, Chief Imam Rilwan Jamiu encouraged the congregation to show gratitude to Allah during times of fortune and to exercise patience during adversity.

He emphasized that unwavering hope and faith are essential for believers, even in challenging circumstances.

Acknowledging the President’s presence, Imam Jamiu offered prayers for Tinubu’s success in leading Nigeria toward peace, security, and prosperity.

He assured the President of the steadfast prayers and support of the Muslim Ummah as he governs the nation.

“We are proud of you,” Imam Jamiu stated. “I recall that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns, and we thank God that you have not disappointed us.

“We believe in your capabilities. We recognize your wisdom and competence.

“We trust and pray that you will continue to meet our expectations. May Allah always be with you. Allah has entrusted Nigeria to you, and you will be held accountable for this trust.

“Remember the importance of accountability and responsibility to the people. Responsibility lies with the people, and accountability is to Allah when you return to Him.

“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, ‘The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader.’

“You bear one of the names of Prophet Muhammad: Ahmed, which signifies someone who does praiseworthy deeds. This name has been reflected in your past actions, and we hope it will continue to reflect in your future actions,” Imam Jamiu encouraged.

The President, who is spending the festive season in Lagos State, arrived in Nigeria’s commercial capital on December 18.

In respect for the victims of the recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra States, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that resulted in loss of life, President Tinubu canceled his public engagements, including a boat regatta, scheduled for last Saturday in Lagos.
