Culpable Homicide Suspects Arrested

There were tears at the residence of Arch Adamu Jagaba, the former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, who was tragically assassinated last Saturday at his block industry located at the Eastern Bye-pass in Minna.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. He reported that on December 7, 2024, at approximately 3 PM, a report of culpable homicide was made at the Tudun-Wada Division.
According to the report, around 11:30 AM on that day, a group of individuals trespassed into a block industry on the Eastern Bye-pass, attacked Adamu Jagaba, stabbing him in the head, and fled with his vehicle.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police operatives from the division investigated the scene and began their inquiry into the unfortunate incident.
It was later learned that the primary suspect, Fatayi Abdulhakeem, an 18-year-old resident of Tayi village in Minna, took the victim’s Toyota Camry and drove to Bosso Estate, where he was apprehended by the Police Crack Squad around 7 PM on the same day.
During interrogation, the suspect, who works as a car painter (panel beater), confessed that he had visited the block industry to change the vehicle’s bumper.
He admitted to deliberately stabbing the deceased multiple times in the head and neck, even using a stapler in the process, before escaping with the Toyota Camry, bearing registration number MNA 61 AE.
Abdulhakeem further disclosed that he conspired with some of the deceased’s workers, who gave him details and guidance on how to carry out the crime.
He also named other gang members with whom he typically committed such acts. The police are now making efforts to apprehend the remaining members, and the suspects are expected to be charged in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation concludes.
Our reporter learned that Architect Adamu Jagaba retired as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2022. At his residence, one of his daughters, Barr. Synthia Jagaba of Madueke and Associates Chambers in Abuja, described her father’s death as shocking and noted that the suspect used to drive her father around to the block industry, Daje Dymaxion, located along Eastern Bye-pass opposite the PDP Secretariat in Minna.
