Niger state Pensioners still receives ₦3,000, seeks inclusion in the ₦80,000 minimum wage.
Nigeria union of pensioners NUP Niger state chapter has appealed to governor muhammad Umaru Bago to include pensioners in the approval of 80,000 naira minimum wage for both state and local government workers in the state.
The union made the appeal in a statement signed by its secretary Abdullahi Baba Sani, made available to Journalist in Minna.
According to the statement the union is drawing the attention of Governor Farmer muhammad Umaru Bago to the fact that many pensioners still receive as little as 3,000 naira monthly pension which does not commensurate with the present day reality of the country.
The union has commended the state governor for the payment of pension and gratuity to seniors citizens and all the deserving pensioners for both state and local government pensioners in the state.
The union also appealled to the governor to temper justice with mercy and resume payments of gratuity to local government pensioners.
The secretary, Abdullahi Baba Sani, then made a request for a piece of land for the building of a pensioners clinic to cater for their health challenges and an 18-seater bus to enable the union carry out its activities efficiently.
