NUMW emphasized support for esterblishement of Niger state Taskforce.
The Union of Mining Laborers, Niger branch emphasized its support for the establishment of Taskforce by the Niger State Government.
The chairman Niger state chapter, Comr. Musa Adamu Nasko made the statement during a press briefing in Minna.
Nasko continued by saying that now the government has entrusted the responsibility of collecting revenue to two companies, MARUFAWA Of Concept and Project Limited, which will manage the local governments of Chanchaga, Shiroro, Munya, Bosso and Suleja.
The KIFFMA company will take care of Magama, Mashegu and Rijau, so I am calling on our members to cooperate with these companies, especially the businessmen in Minna market, because the state government has saddled us with responsibilities and in charge of this project, and we understood that their mission is for the development of the state in general.
We are trying to connect them with all our members of these local governments, so that the work will be easier for them.
As we have said many times, our door is always open to any project that will bring development and will help to increase the revenue sources for the government as long as we will be given all the necessary and legal mandate, we are always ready to assist the government in delivering its goals easily and without resistance.
There are more than five hundred mining companies in this state, but those who have presented themselves to the state authorities are less than two hundred.
That means, any company that is saddled with this responsibility will come in just like a blind-man, because it wouldn’t have accurate guide on the job, it doesn’t know where the workers are.
We are the ones in the field and we are the ones who will guide whoever and deliver him, wherever it is necessary, we are doing this because of our cordial relationship with the state government, we made many calls, and finally God answered, the government listened to our calls.
There is nothing we should do to the government, but thank her and let us cooperate in actualizing this resolution of theirs.
The work of these companies as consultants will enable the state government to find out where the problems are, now that the government has lifted the embargo based on conditions we are certain that if the state government give all necessary support to the taskforce it will help to effectively monitor and generate revenue for the government.
Because any mining company that abide by rules and regulations will continue to work without any interference, as well as all the lebourers that adhere to the rules of the union as approved by the government will continue to enjoy work without fear or fear of arrest, at all.
His Excellency the Deputy Governor, on the day he swore in this Taskforce committee, said there are more than five hundred companies that are registered but more than two hundred have identified themselves with the state government.
We as an union are doing our best on enlightenment to ensure that they follow the rules of the state government for security reasons which will give them the confidence to continue their work without interference.
Turning to the local government leadership election of NUMW, he said that on the 19th of this month, the form will arrive at the Secretariat of the state union, who all want to contest for any seat at the local government level on Wednesday 20/09/24 he has the right to hurry and purchase the application form.
Comr. Nasko, praised Governor Umar Boga for his efforts to empathize with the plight of the mining industry and remove the temporary restrictions on certain conditions, which we believe from all indications will be removed completely.
The chairman asked theThe chairman asked the members of the group to continue to support Umar Bago’s government, because in all the current planned missions, the government is consulting with us, and we will make sure that as these companies have decided to work with us, we will continue to give them appropriate representation in every outing of theirs, to avoid interference or resistance from our colleagues.
