Ñiger State Govt presents C of O to NNPC Retail Ltd Micro filling Plants in the State.

By Abdulkadir Yahaya, Minna.

Niger State Government has presented Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Retail Limited for the establishment of Micro filling plants in the State as a pilot scheme.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made the presentation to the delegation of the NNPC led by its Manager, External Relations and Communications Hajiya Aisha Birma, at his official residence in Government House Minna.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago who expressed delight with the project, said that the provision of filling plants by NNPC and the transitioning from fossil fuel to clean, and affordable energy is a welcome development.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to a clean and renewable energy through green economy.

The farmer Governor said he was confidence that collaboration with the NNPC on the filling plants project will further address the cases of tree felling in the State, which would also assist in checkmating deforestation.

On the proposed establishment of Truck Parks in the State by the NNPC, farmer Governor Umaru Bago advocated synergy between the NNPC and the Niger State Government so that the activities would be streamlined for effective service delivery and to avoid duplication of projects as the State has plans to invest in trailer parks.

Earlier, the Senior Officer, LPG Micro distribution, NNPC Ltd, Alh. Muhammad Baba, said the LPG Micro filling plants project, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, is part of the Federal Government’s agenda to increase the use of gas and make it accessible as well as affordable for Nigerians even in the remote areas.

While giving an explanation of the layout and workings of the LPG Micro filling plants, the Senior Officer said each of the units would have a storage capacity of about one metric tons of gas and will be established in a 20 ft container, powered by solar.

He disclosed that 3,000 units of the filling plants are to be established nationwide, out of which Niger State will have 50.

The Senior Officer further explained that the C of O received covers for the establishment of three units of the filling plants which are in Bida, Suleja and Three Arm Zone in Minna only.

Alh. Baba appreciated the State government for the kind gesture and appealed for continuous collaboration, as the State government is expected to provide assigned dealers to NNPC for gas supply when the plants are fully established.

The Senior Officer also announced a plan by the NNPC to establish CNG Truck Parks along with some complimentary facilities in the State with the aim aimed of addressing the indiscriminate parking of trucks on the roadside.

The Senior Retail Engineer, Yusuf Ismail was part of the NNPC delegation.
