Affiliate Union of NLC passes vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Idrees Lafene.

Affiliate unions of Nigeria labour Congress, Niger State Council have passed vote of confidence on the State Chairman of NLC Comrade Idris Abdulkareem lafene for his purposeful leadership in the last one year.
This formed part of resolutions reached during the State Executive Council SEC meeting of NLC held on Tuesday 16/04/2024 at labour House Minna.
The SEC in session said the resolution was based on the unprecedented achievements recorded by Comrade Idris Abdulkareem lafene which has surpassed the former leaderships of NLC in the past six years.
The meeting observed with satisfaction that, affiliate unions are being carried along in the scheme of things especially as it affects workers welfare.
In his score card presented at the meeting, the State NLC Chairman Comrade Idris Abdulkareem lafene listed his achievements to include amendment of 7 point 5 percent contributory pension scheme act to take effect from 2007 as against the initial 1993, defrayment of pension gratuity arrears for state and local governments to the tune of N3B, implementation of promotions of state workers, establishment of local government pension board. implementation of consequential adjustments for local government workers and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai, as well as partnership with relevant bodies and organizations.
Others are defrayment of arrears of third-party deductions, sustained payment of salaries to all categories of workers and pensioners at the State and local government Areas and commencement of defrayment of owed salary arrears for local government Areas from 210 percent to less than 50 percent.
The SEC in session also adopted a partnership between the NLC and State Ministry of agriculture to key into the agriculture drive of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar bago.
To this end , the ministry has consented the idea of the State NLC to establish labour farm for which a memo is being developed for onward presentation to the government.
It says beneficiaries would be selected and rotated annually while the leadership would look at the legal implications of any memorandum of understanding MOU before signing any document.
The SEC in session then directed it’s members to compile and forward to the Secretariat, the additional achievements and challenges as it affects their respective unions for them to be captured in the May day speech
