IBBUL Vice Chancellor inaugurates Committee on establishement  of faculty of Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

IBBUL Vice Chancellor inaugurates Committee on establishement  of faculty of Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Vice Chancellor Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu has appealed to stakeholders to join hands with the University Management towards ensuring the realisation of the establishment of Faculty of Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Vice Chancellor made the appeal while   inaugurating Committees on the establishment of the two faculties, held at the University’s Senate Chamber.

According to him, the University Management needed the support from all the stakeholders for the process to become reality, lamenting that the University has lagged behind compared to others that were established the same time with it.

He added that IBB University was established in two thousand and five with three developmental phases, stressing that the University is still in it first phase after sixteen years of existence.

Professor  Adamu urged the Committees to submit reports within shortest possible time to enable the Management in turn submit all the documents to National Universities Commission (NUC) by January next year so that the resource verification visit for the two programmes could commence either by February or latest March of the same year.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the Visitor and Governor of Niger State, Right Honourable Muhammad Umaru Bago’s  administration for all the support in ensuring the growth and development of the University.

In their separate remarks, Chairmen of the Committees, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Abdulmumin Bala Ahmed and Professor Ibrahim Muhammad Sule expressed optimism that success would be achieved, stating that it the two programmes are starting on a good footing.

On his part, the Committee Chairman for the Faculty of Law, affirmed that with the structures at Fati Lami Institute of Legal and Administrative Studies (FLILAS), the  NUC will give approval as it is only interested in standard institutional structure set up.

The duo advised the University Management to pick qualified lecturers from Fati Lami Institute of Legal and Administrative Studies to be  part of the University and also to invite Legal Council to give their input.

They both congratulated the University Management and the Committee members, assuring that Niger State is going to take the lead.

In a  vote of thanks, the  Registrar, Alhaji Idris Sule Kusherki, expressed confident and in the capacity, professionalism and commitment of the members of the Committees to carry out the assignment.

Committee on Faculty of Law has Professor Abdulmumin Bala Ahmed of the Faculty of Law, Bayero  University, Kano as Chairman; Members are, Professor Hassan Ibrahim, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, IBB University, Lapai; Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, IBB University, Lapai; Dr. Aliyu Bello Mohammed, Director Academic Planning, IBB University, Lapai; Professor
Ebenezer O. Ogungbe, Director, Quality Assurance, IBB University, Lapai; Solicitor- General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Minna and Professor Abubakar Mohammed Madaki, Faculty of Law, ABU, Zaria.

Others are, Mrs Rahamat Ishaq, Nigeria Law School, Kano; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Niger State; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Minna; Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Office of Head of Service; Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Niger State; Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Oyibo, Esq., Institute for Legal and Administrative Studies, Minna, respectively.

Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Gimba and Barr. Bilkisu Umaru Bago are to serve as Secretary and Assistant Secretary.

On the other hand, the Committee for the establishment of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has Professor Ibrahim Mohammed Sule of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, ABU, Zaria as its Chairman.

Other members are; Pharm. Ibrahim Baba shehu Ahmed , Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria; Professor Musa Yerima,
