Niger govt to construct affordable houses,-Umar.

Niger state government is making concerted arrangements to invite reputable developers to construct affordable houses to address the problems of accommodation confronting the people of the state.
The state Commissioner for Housing and Urban renewal,Hon Abubakar Umar stated this last Thursday while addressing journalist in Minna.
He said substantial amount have been allocated to the housing sector towards addressing the problem of high cost of rent confronting civil servants which is also part of the Urban renewal policy and transformation agenda of governor Umar Bago.
According to the commissioner the Urban renewal drive of the present administration is highly responsible towards ensuring the realization of it’s set objectives as part of measures to afford civil servants and the entire Nigerlites comfortable environment..
Hon Abubakar, pointed out that “the urge the present government have in Urban renewal policy can not be over emphasised as no amount of resources is too much in the provision of affordable houses for the people of the state”.
“Already the ministry is waiting for the approval of Niger state Governor for the arrival of reputable developers from across Nigeria to come into the state to construct some houses to ease the housing needs of Nigerlites by way of giving them affordable houses.”
As part of his commitment and continuity in governance the governor have resolved to continue to work on the three arms zone at Maitumbi the outskirt of Minna embarked by the past administration of Governor Muazu Bababgida Aliyu to provide reasonable number of decent accommodation for the people of the state as contractors handling such project have been mobilise to the site.
Umar further explained that the abandoned government quarters in Bida,Kontagora and airport road in MINNA by former governor Bababgida Aliyu, will be completed and will be handed over to successful applicants based on the recommendations from the committee set up by the governor headed by the Deputy governor Comrade Yakubu Garba.
