Gov Bago appoints ex-SSG, Prof Kuta Yahaya to chair committee on take-off of new University of Education

Gov Mohammed Umaru-Bago of Niger has approved the appointment of Prof Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, a former Secretary to the Niger State Government as the Chairman of the implementation committee for smooth take-off of it’s University of Education in Minna.
Bago said the gesture is aimed at ensuring the smooth take-off of the newly licensed Niger State University of Education, Minna.
A statement issued by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, in Minna, disclosed that the Committee is to be chaired by Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya of the Uniiversity of Ibadan and former Secretary to the Government of Niger state.
The statement stated that the SSG would serve as the Co-Chairman of the Committee, while Dr. Abdul Hussaini, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands is its Secretary.
Other members of the Committee include: Prof. Rasheed Haruna, Provost, Federal College of Education, Kontagora, Prof. Yakubu Mohammed Auna, Provost, College of Education, Minna, Mohammed Datti Usman, former Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Minna and Barr. Abbas Bello, former Head of Service, Niger State.
Also included in the committee are Prof. Busrah Zakariyau, Department of Entrepreneurship, Federal University of Technology, Minna and Dr. Abubakar Bala Shehu, Deputy Provost, Academics, College of Education, Minna,
Other members of the Committee are Mallam Sule Ndako, Director, Research and Development, College of Education, Minna, Mrs. Azumi S.K. Ndayako, Registrar, Edusosko University, Bida, Hon. Commissioner, Tertiary Education, Hon. Commissioner, Budget and Planning, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government Affairs.
The rest are, Hajiya Hassana Adamu, former Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Dr. Dauda Mohammed Kontagora and Engr. Dr. Sadiq A. Mohammed, Federal University of Technology, Minna.
The statement also said Dr. Murtala M. Bagana who is also the Assistant Secretary, Dr. Mamman S. Abubakar, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Mallam Yabagi Alfa, former Registrar, College of Education, Minna and Engr. Abdullahi Ketso, would serve as members of the Secretariat.
It would be recalled that only recently the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted a license to Gov. Bago’s administration to establish a new, full-fledged state-owned University of Education, named the Niger State University of Education, Minna.
This landmark achievement was said to be in furtherance of the present administration’s concerted efforts towards increased access to quality University education to the teeming citizens.
