Boad Mishap: Agwara Chairman condoles families,donate 1 Million naira to the deceased families.
The local government council chairman of Agwara who is also the ALGON chairman Niger state Iliya Zakari has paid a condolence visit to the families of victims of boat mishap that claim 8 lives in the area.
The chairman was in company of councillors from the local government area as well as traditional rulers.
The chairman Iliyasu Zakari who express sadness over the incessant boat mishap in the area especially the recent time that claim eight lives, Called on boat operators and passengers in the area to observe safety rules and regulations.
The chairman maintained that, any responsible government is concerned about the safety of lives and property of it citizens,hence need for boat operators to always take precautionary measure to avoid Mishap.
He stated that Agwara local government will synergies with Yauri local government in Kebbi state to come up with modalities that would further ensure the safety and protection of lives of those in the riverine area.
He however directed the Marine police in the area to intensify patrol and surveillance and to also enforce compliance of the safety rules and regulations.
He then revealed that council under his leadership has made arrangements to build two giant commercial engine boats to support the people in the area of transportation.
The chairman however announced a donation of the sum of one million naira to family of the victims.
Responding, the district head of Agwara who is also overseeing the area Hassan Mohammed Zakari thank the chairman for the visit as well as the donation to the families.
He assured that they will sensitized the people on the need to always use life jacket and avoid over loading.
Earlier the Emir of Yauri Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi recount the long standing relationship between Yauri and Borgu kingdom, advised the local government chairmen of Agwara and Yauri to work in synergy to ensure the safety of lives and property.
