Govt will no longer tolerate non execution of projects by agencies-Niger commissioner for LG

Niger state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh. Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo has warned that henceforth, the state government will no longer fold it’s arms and allow funds allocated for execution of projects to agencies under the ministry not being adequately utilized in the state.
The commissioner gave the warning during a visit to agencies under the ministry in Minna.
The agencies include Niger State Environmental Protection Agency, Labour House, Local Government Auditor General’s office, SUBEB and Local Government Service Commission
He noted that the Ministry will now ensure constant supervision of the activities of every agency to ensure funds released are put to the right use.
He assured all the agencies under the Ministry of his determination to address the issues confronting them especially staff welfare package to be given the desired priority.
According to him, ” I reassure that the identified challenges will be addressed as quickly as possible. Let me warn that the era of paying money to agencies without positive impact is over”
” The essence of the visit is to identified agencies or institutions that are strategic to our operations to further cement the already existing relationships. I’ve been council chairman for four year’s and I know areas where to experience conflicts, so we want to avoid that this time around”.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abubakar Aliyu also assured the management of the agencies and institutions visited that the ministry will not relent untill all the identified issues are nip in the bud.
At the various agencies the commissioner visited, the heads listed challenges confronting them while assuring him of a robust working relationship.
The Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Idris Lafene specifically, identified some the challenges of the Union to include consequential adjustment of Minimum wage, non payment of Salary arrears and ineffective promotion for civil servants.
