IBBL Management Sets up Committee to look into three Students involved in Cultism.
The Management of Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, has expressed concern over a report that emanated from the Niger State Police Command that it has arrested three students of the University involved in cultism.
The University Management in a statement made available to the Journalists by the Deputy Registrar, Information,Alhaji Baba Akote in Minna.
The statement added that the University obtained the information about the involvement of the students in cultism through a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun in “Crime Bulletin” on Wednesday, 9th August, 2023 which said the students were arrested in Lapai and that they allegedly confessed their involvement and belonging to a certain Cult group.
According to Alhaji Baba Akote, the Vice Chancellor of the University,has since set up a credible Committee to look into the facts of the matter, while assuring that appropriate measures will be taken by the Management after the investigation, which will certainly serve as deterrent to others.
The University Management equally seized the opportunity to reiterate its commitment towards strengthening collaboration with all relevant security agencies with a view to eradicating cultism on the campus.
He advised the general public, especially parents and guardians to remain calm and always monitor the movement of their wards.
Recalled that On 16/07/2023 based on credible intelligence, Police operatives attached to Lapai Division arrested the following suspects;Tanko Augustine Solomon 27yrs,
Idris Hamza 25yrs and Idris Hayatullahi 25yrs who were arrested in their various residences, off campus in Lapai for being suspected to be cult members.
According to the Police Public Relations officer DSP Wasiu Abiodun in a Police Crime bulletin made available to Journalists said during Police interrogation, the suspects claimed to be IBBU students, as Tanko confessed that they belong to the Neo-black movement (NBM) and his mission was to initiate more students from the school to fight for black racism movement.
