NSCDC graduates 10,000 personnel in weapon handling, vows to end oil theft
Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has vowed to end the activities of oil thieves in the country.
Audi made the vow during the passing-out-parade of 370 personnel of Course 10 who were trained in weapon handling at the Corps’ Headquarters in Abuja.
While charging the Graduands to be civic and professional in the discharge of duties, the Commandant General said that, “You must do your best to reduce and if possible eliminate oil theft totally. We must arrest oil thieves. We must arrest oil thieves. We shall go after them and bring them to book. We have made strong statements that vandals should relocate to other countries because they are going to have a hard time with the NSCDC.”
He said that in the fight to eradicate these oil thieves, the Corps, will also deploy the newly trained and acquired assets to achieve this feat.
Listing some of the achievements of the NSCDC, he said that the Corps, has trained over 10,000 officers and men in Arms and Weapon Handling, created and keenly nurtured other specialized areas such as the CGs Intelligence squad, CGs Antivandal squad, CGs Marine squad, RRS, Female squad, Crack squad and the most resent the Safe School Initiative saddled with the responsibility of safe-guarding our schools from outlaws.
“The Provision of operational and official vehicles, Welfare of officers and payment of arrears and backlog payment of death benefits.
“We came and met a backlog of promotion arrears but as of today, we are no longer owing.
“Development of the Standard Operating Procedure, SOP, for the entire Corps, Creation of more training schools in Nasarawa, Enugu and Jos.
“The creation of the Standard Curriculum template for NSCDC Training Colleges, Enhancement of Agro Rangers operations to meet with the demands of the security issues in Nigeria.
Above all, a sound blue print of reforms ranging from professionalism to ethical re-orientation of the entire workforce,” he stated.
He also noted that there was room for more achievements to making the Corps efficient and effective.
