Niger NPC Assures Conduct of Population and Housing census, Awaiting Govt Directives
The Hon. Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission Minna Niger State, Muhammad Usman Datijo has assured that the conduct of 2023 population and housing census shall be credible, reliable and acceptable.
Datijo stated this in a Press conference held at IBB Pen House, Minna, stressing that the prospondment of 2023 population and Housing census had nothing to do with the commissions unpreparedness , adding that the commission has performed above average going by it key milestones.
He disclosed that the National Population Census shall be fully digital, transformative and green, adding that it differs,as well in nature and scope as it will be population and Housing census
He stated that the process will be of collecting, collaring, compiling, evaluating, analyzing and publishing or otherwise disseminating demographic, economic and social data pertaining to all persons and housing units.
He emphasized that it has carried out 33 activities, two remaining ongoing which is the testing of newly procured PDAs and testing and retesting of census application,adding that the Commission is only waiting for Government directives to commence the census exercise any moment.
He further mentioned that the 2023 population and Housing census set’s out to count all Nigerians without exception and the questionaire will be basically on demographic socio-economic characteristics and will not include any aspects of religion or ethnicity, Usman added.
