Niger Organized labour call on incoming administration to implement its blueprint.

An appeal has been made to the incoming administration of Hon. Muhammad Bago to muster the political will to implement the recommendations contained in the blueprint the organized labour has prepared for good governance of the state.
The chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union, Niger state council, comrade Abdullahi Erena made the appeal during an exclusive interview with selected journalists today in commemoration of the 2023 workers day.
He said the organized labour, in furtherance of its role as a major stakeholder in the state, has prepared a working document and blueprint, containing insightful recommendations that has provided solutions to problems bedeviling the state.
Comrade Erena said if the incoming administration will garner the political will to implement the recommendations contained in the blueprint, the state will be saved from many problems and it will be a win-win for everybody.
He said the organized labour has painstakingly taken its time and invested enormous human resources to prepare the document as part of its contributions to good governance in the state.
 Comrade Abdullahi Erena, who’s also the vice chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress in the state, said all hands must come together in absolute unity to help the incoming administration achieve its lofty desires for the state.
He then congratulated workers in the state for marking this year’s workers day, pointing out that though there were challenges, there were also prospects that good days lie ahead.
The NLC vice chairman further dispelled rumours alleging rift in the NLC, revealing that the organized labour in Niger state were united behind the present leadership to defend the rights of workers and improve their welfare.
Comrade Erena revealed that he’s been affirmed as the substantive medical and health workers union chairman in the state after initially serving in acting capacity after the nomination of comrade Yakubu Garba as deputy governorship candidate.
He said he hoped to work hard to meet the tall standard and fill the vaccum the former chairman, comrade Yakubu Garba has left, pointing out that although the task ahead were enormous, he was confident of the support and cooperation of his members.
He said there were entitlements owed his members from 2020 which he said the union under his watch was interfacing vigorously with the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs for amicable settlement.
