NUT calls on Niger Govt. to employ more teachers to cushion the effects of Mass exodus and retirement.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger state branch has observed with deep concern the Insfrastructural decay in some of the schools, particularly the recently reopened schools in the state.
In a communique issued at the end of the state executive Council meeting held at the comrade Labaran Garba Multipurpose conference center Minna, said there is need for the state ministry of Basic and secondary education to do the needful to make both teaching and learning effective and attractive.
In the communique, they laments on the acute shortage of teachers in schools as a result of mass exodus and retirement,therefore call on the state government to recruit new qualitied teachers to fill in the existing vacancies at both primary and secondary schools.
They however appeal for the implementation of the domestic servants allowance to teachers on salary grade level 15 and above as enjoyed by their colleagues in civil service and also expressed concern on the delay in payment of salaries to teachers in the state.
SWEC also frowned at the incessant attacks on teachers by students and their parents, adding that adequate security measures be taken by the government to protect teachers against any form of attacks by the students in various school across the state.
The state wing executive Council then call on teachers to be more dedicated in the course of discharging their duties and reaffirmed their unflinching commitment to support the New Niger Agenda of the present administration of Governor Umaru Muhammed Bago.
