Yuletide: NEMA brainstorm on how to prevent road accidents
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Niger state and stakeholders on Thursday met to brainstorm on how to prevent road accidents and other disaster during yuletide season.
Hajiya Zainab Suleiman Sai’du, Head, NEMA Minna Operations Office, said the meeting was reduced road accidents and brainstorm on how to tame the other incidents that serves as triggers to other disasters during the season.
Sai’du, represented by Dr Zainab Ndanusa Head, Disaster Reduction Risk Unit, called on stakeholders not spare any stone unturned to curtail disasters and emergency during yuletide season.
“This is the rationale behind the meeting to continue to assess our risks and talk about them with the mindset of seeking ways to avoid the consequences that could come out of them.
“Yuletide season is unique because it the period that we records the high volume of vehicular movement across the country,” she said.
“Experience has shown that this heavy movement has resulted to several cases of accidents with many people losing their lives and wealth,” she said.
She added that there was the need for all hands to be on deck to continue to reduce disaster incidences to the barest minimum.
Sai’du commended the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) for ensuring safety on the roads, especially during ember months.
