Kaduna Disengaged Primary school teachers cries for refund of their Endwell Contribution and Gratuity.

By Abdul Mohammed Isah.

The primary school teachers disengaged from service by the Kaduna state government have expressed their anger and frustration over the prolonged delay in receiving their pensions, gratuity and other entitlements.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the group, Malam Idris Abdullah Jibrin and Yunusa Umar Yaro his secretary highlighted the financial quagmire faced by the disengaged teachers stating that they have been enduring hardships as a result of the non-payment of their contributions to the teachers’ compulsory savings scheme known as Endwell.

“I’m also appealing to the government of Kaduna state to also intervene on the remittance of   dividend of shares obtained by teachers in the state through the Endwell Micro Finance Bank by teachers both in service and retired in the state.”  The statement added.

He emphasized that these contributions were deducted from their salaries monthly during their active service.

The disengaged teachers further stressed the importance of the state government prompt remittance of these compulsory deductions to the appropriate fund administrators.

They argued that the delay in remittance not only affected their financial well-being but also violates their rights as retired teachers who have faithfully served the state for many years.

The coalition of disengaged teachers from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state further called on the state government to prioritize their welfare and ensure that deducted funds are remitted without further delay.

They pleaded for swift action highlighting the impact of the non-remittance on their ability to meet basic needs, like access to healthcare, payment of their children’s school fees, support to their families, among others.

The disengaged primary school teachers remain hopeful that their pleas will be heard and that the state government will expedite the resolution of the non-remittance issue.

They are eager to regain their financial stability and secure their future through the full payment of their entitlements.

The non-remittance of compulsory deductions not only affected individual teachers but also raises concerns about the transparency and management of funds by the government.

“It serves as a reminder of the importance for government entities to fulfill their obligations to retirees ensuring their financial security and well-being after years of dedicated service.”

Idris however appealed to the administration of Governor Uba Sani to revisit the format of the competency examination conducted by the previous administration of the state with the view of reinstating some competent hands into the civil service.
