Avoid speculative issues affecting NYSC, Niger coordinator urges corps members
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged corps members to void speculative issues that affecting the NYSC,.
Hajiya Abdulwahab Alidat, NYSC Coordinator in Niger, said this during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch B, Stream 2 orientation course on Tuesday in Paiko.
She advised the corps members to rather visit the scheme website, social media platform and other offical channel for clarification.
“You should sustain the spirit of patriotism, serve humbly and selflessly and focus on what to do to better the lives of people of their host communities,” he said.
Alidat advised the corps members to accept their posting in good faith and discharge their duties with diligence as gudied in the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws.
She urged the corps members to integrate into their host communities and respect their culture without meddling in their local politics and undertake personal and group Community Development Service Projects.
She urged them to be security conscious at all time as the scheme was liaising with security agencies and critical stakeholders to ensure their safety and addresse their essential needs.
In his address, Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger, said the state government was aware of challenges of facilities in the camp and assured of addressing them soon.
Bago, represented by Alhaji Yahaya Gulbin-Boka, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sport, said government will leave no stone unturned towards ensuring the safety of corps members in the state.
He called on security agencies to ensure that corps members are kept safe at all times, assuring them of the welfare in the state as they go about their duties without fear.
He urged the corps members to support the state toward bettering the lives of the people in areas of education, health, agriculture, environmental sanitation and Immunisation campaign.
He said he has given order to recognise and reward corps members who distinguished themselves in selfless service during their service year.
