Niger State Organized Labour rejects Palliative distribution formula to go on Strke.
Niger state Organized Labour has frowned at the none inclusion of Civil Servants in the first phase of the Palliatives distribution by the Executive Governor.
In a Press briefing organized by the Organized Labour at the labour house Minna,the Chairman NLC Niger State,Comrade Edress Lafene said the deliberate plan by the Niger state government to skim out the working class and Pensioners in the Palliatives distribution has triggered serious tension among members of the Organized Labour that could have negative effect on the overall productivity of the working class in the state.
The statement said in response to the mounting tension from the working class, organized labour conveyed an emergency meeting of State Administrative Council SAC accordingly, SAC in session reiterates the earlier demands communicated to the governorment.
Comrade Edris Lafene said SAC unanimously resolved that the One hundred and ten million naira [100,000,000.00] announced by the Governor as palliative for Industrial Unions be collapse and added to whatever palliative intended for the generality of workers and credited directly to the salary accounts of civil servants, Retirees and local government workers for six months.
‘According to the foregoing Workers in State are directed to boycott participation in the committee and distribution of the Palliatives generally’.
Comrade Edris Lafene further called for the suspension of PAYEE until further notice and the immidiate implementation of #30,000.00 national minimum wage to retirees in the state and local government Areas.
Among some of demands of the Union is the payment of fifty thousand naira #50,000.00 on a flat rate basis as Palliatives to all working class and retirees in the state and local government areas.
Furthermore to press the demands on the removal of petrol subsidy,the National Headquarters of Nigeria labour Congress NLC has directed workers in the 36 states and the FCT to down tools in a two days warning strike on 5th and 6th September 2023 in preparation for a full blown strike after the expiration of a fourteen days ultimatum ‘
‘the Niger State Organized Labour has already mobilized workers to comply fully and comprehensively to the directives’the statement added.
