Outgoing Governor of Niger Pardon 24 Inmates, Assents to CPS Amended Bill into Law.

Outgoing Governor of Niger Pardon 24 Inmates, Assents to CPS Amended Bill into Law.

The Outgoing Governor of Niger State Dr Abubakar Sani Bello has Assents into law to Amend, law establishing the contributory pension scheme for employees in public service of Niger state,2017 and for other matters connected therewith ,2023.

The Attorney General of the state and commissioner of Justice,Nasara Danmallam disclosed this at the handing over the affairs of the Ministry of Justice to the Permanent Secretary on Friday at ministry conference room Minna.

DanMallam stated that the law which is cited as Niger State pension reform (Amended) law,2023 and shall come into operation on the 4/May/2023 .

He said the law shall not apply to an employee who has been in the public service of Niger state prior to 3rd/March/2007 in which the principal law came into operation and that the law shall provide for pensions and gratuities in the state which came into operation on 1/April/1974 otherwise known as Old pension scheme and shall apply to those employees exempted from the contributory pension scheme CPS.

The Law says person exempted who is in service or retired or cease to be in service for any reason whatsoever as at the commencement of the law and who has made contributions to his retirement savings account under the principal law and the Amended principal law shall be entitled to refund of such contributions by the pension fund Administration or any other relevant authority who has custody of such contributions

 

In Some of the parting gesture of the Outgoing Governor,Nasara Danmallam said he has also approved the Pardon of twenty four (24) people from death sentences to imprisonment of 10,15 and 20 years depending on the grivience of their sentences and has also paid fines for (80) eighty Inmates that had not been able to pay their judgement fines amounting to about ( N20) twenty million naira.

He further mentioned that Six Civil Servants who were dismissed , the governor under his power’s granted them pardon as some of them were re-instated into civil service and those who were to be in the service and might have retired had their dismissals pardoned to retirement.
