Ndarani, SAN urges Niger students to pursue academic excellence, shun social vices

Alhaji Mohammed Ndarani, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has urged students in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger to embrace education, discipline and integrity while shunning social vices capable of jeopardising their future.
Ndarani who is also the Hukunchi Nupe and Hausaland, Madugu Lapai gave the advice on Thursday in Minna during the Student Orientation and Award Presentation organised by the National Association of Lavun Local Government Students (NALLGOS).
The event formed part of activities marking the 2026 Lavun Day celebration held at Dr Umar Sanda Ahmadu College of Education.
The legal luminary who was represented by Alhaji Mohammed Baba Busu Jakada Labari Nupe, Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) described education as the surest path to personal fulfilment, community development and national transformation, stressing that the future of Lavun and Nigeria depended largely on the quality of education provided for young people.
According to him, the society requires educated, disciplined and morally upright youths who will emerge as responsible leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators and public servants.
The learned silk urged the students to remain focused on their studies and avoid cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, cybercrime, violent extremism and other anti-social behaviours capable of truncating their aspirations.
“Character and integrity are as important as academic excellence because success built on honesty and diligence endures longer than success achieved through shortcuts,” he said.
Ndarani congratulated recipients of the awards presented at the event, describing the recognition as proof that hard work and excellence never go unnoticed.
The senior lawyer advised the awardees to regard the honour as motivation for greater accomplishments, while encouraging other students to remain committed to diligence and perseverance.
He also appealed to parents, guardians, community leaders, public office holders, philanthropists and successful indigenes of Lavun to invest more in education through scholarships, mentorship, educational infrastructure and career guidance.
Ndarani reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote academic excellence, youth empowerment and human capital development, noting that sustained investment in education would continue to yield lasting benefits for individuals and society.
He commended NALLGOS for organising the orientation programme and recognising individuals who had contributed to education, youth development and community service, saying such recognition would encourage greater commitment to societal progress.
Ndarani further urged the people of Lavun to strengthen unity, peaceful coexistence and collective commitment to sustainable development for the benefit of future generations.
He, thereafter, declared the Student Orientation and Award Presentation open and prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity in Lavun Local Government Area, Niger State and the country.
Other dignitaries present at the event are, Architect Rabiu Mohammed Sadiq, NDC senatorial candidate for Niger South represented by Dr Umar Isah Leje, Col Mohammed Mahmud Liman, RTD. represented by SUPOL Abdullahi Mohammed, Zakari Mohammed Kuchi, APC candidate, Niger State House of Assembly for Lavun among others.
