Lameen Aliyu Receives Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Award, Reaffirming Dedication to Northern Unity and Youth Development

Alhaji Lameen Aliyu, Deputy Director General of the APC Support Groups Council – North Central, has been honored with the prestigious Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Award and bestowed with the title “Garkuwan Matasan Arewa” (Shield of Northern Youths) by the Northern Youth Consultative Council of Nigeria (NYCCN). This recognition highlights his outstanding contributions to youth development, humanitarian efforts, and national unity.
The award ceremony was attended by youth leaders, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, and supporters from across Northern Nigeria. The event celebrated a leader noted for grassroots mobilization, philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to empowering young people and strengthening democratic participation.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Lameen Aliyu expressed gratitude to Allah and thanked NYCCN leadership, especially President Hon. Abdullahi Bilal Waziri, for the honor. He dedicated the award to his family, colleagues, members of the APC Support Groups Council – North Central, and numerous young Nigerians committed to integrity, hard work, and selfless service.
He reflected that receiving an award named after Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, carries significant responsibility. He described the Sardauna as a timeless symbol of visionary leadership, educational progress, agricultural development, unity, and regional growth. He emphasized that true leadership is demonstrated through service, sacrifice, and positive societal impact.
Lameen reiterated his commitment to grassroots mobilization, youth inclusion, stakeholder engagement, and peaceful democratic participation within the APC Support Groups Council – North Central. He underscored that sustainable democracy depends on empowering young people and women, and fostering active citizen involvement in governance.
He called for increased investments in education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, vocational training, and digital innovation. He urged Northern youths to reject violence, drug abuse, religious intolerance, and social vices, advocating patriotism, discipline, innovation, and peaceful coexistence as foundations for regional and national development.
The awardee reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, citing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a vital framework for strengthening governance, expanding economic opportunities, and improving Nigerian welfare. He pledged continued grassroots mobilization in support of the APC and its development initiatives.
Hon. Abdullahi Bilal Waziri, President of the NYCCN, stated that Alhaji Lameen Aliyu was selected after years of observing his dedication to humanity, youth empowerment, and regional unity. He noted that the recipient embodies qualities akin to Sir Ahmadu Bello, including promoting unity regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation, and emphasizing peaceful coexistence and shared responsibility.
Waziri praised Lameen as a bridge-builder whose leadership inspires confidence in Northern Nigeria. He commended his efforts in mobilizing support for the APC and President Tinubu, as well as his humanitarian work supporting youth and women, assisting students, and various community initiatives.
On behalf of the Aliyu Bawan Allah family, Alhaji Sirajo Aliyu expressed gratitude for the honor, affirming that the award was well-deserved given Lameen Aliyu’s contributions.
The presentation of the “Garkuwan Matasan Arewa” title to Alhaji Lameen Aliyu was celebrated widely as recognition of a leader whose influence extends into humanitarian work, youth development, and nation-building.
