BREAKING: Gunmen abduct Kogi school principal, students, and NECO official during examination.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area on Tuesday evening, resulting in the kidnapping of four students, the school principal, and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member while candidates were taking their NECO examinations.
According to a statement from ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
The police have launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation, which is currently ongoing, to pursue the kidnappers. A suspect rescue has already been carried out, with efforts continuing to secure the remaining victims and apprehend those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, along with the Brigade Commander and the State Security Adviser, has traveled to the scene for an on-site assessment.
The command assured the public that all security agencies are committed to rescuing the remaining victims safely and restoring stability in the area.
