Gunmen abduct woman, kill retired Army officer in Nasarawa community

Suspected gunmen have abducted a woman and killed a retired Army officer during an attack on a residential community bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nasarawa State.
Police sources said the incident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. on Friday at Plot 038, PGC Community, near Jikwoyi in the FCT.
The attackers reportedly invaded the residence of Silas Orite, 46, and abducted his wife, Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas, 40, taking her to an unknown destination.
According to the sources, the Community Chief Security Officer (CSO), Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa, 61, a retired Nigerian Army personnel, responded in an attempt to help during the attack but was shot dead by the assailants.
Police visited the scene, gathered evidence, and started investigations into the incident.
Security officers have increased efforts to rescue the abducted woman unharmed and track down those responsible for the attack, while area patrols have been stepped up to prevent further crimes.
