Shiroro Youths rally support for Gov Bago, Senator Sani Musa’s continuity bid
Youths under the aegis of Concerned Shiroro Youths in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have declared their support for Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Senator Muhammad Sani Musa (313), endorsing both leaders for continuity in office.
The youths, who turned out in large numbers, converged on the ancient town of Kuta, the headquarters of Shiroro LGA, on Saturday, where they staged a peaceful solidarity rally to demonstrate their backing for the two political figures ahead of forthcoming electoral processes.
Addressing the gathering, the former Commissioner for Tertiary Education and Executive Director, Finance, North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu, said while every citizen has the constitutional right to contest elective positions, the group’s support is reserved for leaders with proven capacity to deliver effective representation.
Prof. Nuhu Tachi who is a critical stakeholder in Shiroro local government, commended Governor Bago for what he described as impactful development strides across the state, particularly highlighting the ongoing Gwada–Kuta–Zumba road project as a critical intervention in Shiroro LGA. He noted that such initiatives have significantly improved infrastructure and livelihoods in the area.
Speaking on legislative representation, he stressed that effective lawmaking requires experience, courage, and a deep understanding of parliamentary procedures, adding that these qualities informed the group’s decision to support Senator Musa’s re-election bid.
He described the senator as an active and vocal lawmaker who has consistently championed the interests of his constituents at the National Assembly.
According to him, Senator Musa has executed several people oriented projects in Shiroro, including the upgrade of the General Hospital in Kuta and the ongoing construction of a mini stadium, among other interventions aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
Prof. Nuhu further called on political supporters, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid inflammatory rhetoric, noting that unity within the party remains paramount before and after the primaries.
“Everyone has the right to support candidates of their choice, but such support must be expressed with decorum. We must remain law abiding and avoid actions that could divide us, as we will ultimately come together to work for the success of our party,” he said.
Some participants at the rally, including representatives of youth based organizations such as Project Na Water, Coalition of Shiroro Youths, and various women groups, also expressed unanimous support for Governor Bago and Senator Musa, citing their leadership style and developmental efforts as reasons for their endorsement.
