Gov. Bago Undertakes On-the-Spot Assessment of Chanchaga Water Works.

The Niger State Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Services on Monday received Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on an unscheduled inspection visit to the Chanchaga Water Works in Minna, as part of sustained efforts to strengthen water supply across the state capital and other major cities.
The Governor was received by the Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Farouk Umaru Audi, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Akilu Musa Kuta, and senior management staff of the ministry.
During the visit, Governor Bago toured key operational sections of the facility, including treatment units, pumping systems, and maintenance workshops, to evaluate the functionality of critical equipment and the progress of ongoing rehabilitation works designed to restore optimal water production and distribution.
In his briefing, Commissioner Farouk Umaru Audi outlined prevailing technical and operational challenges confronting the water works, while highlighting strategic interventions already initiated by the ministry to boost output and improve supply within Minna metropolis.
Governor Bago described the inspection as both necessary and strategic, reiterating his administration’s firm resolve to revitalize water infrastructure statewide. He stressed that the provision of safe, clean, and reliable water remains central to his government’s development agenda.
The Governor further reaffirmed his desire to ensure adequate and sustainable water supply not only across the state capital but also in other urban centres, noting that comprehensive upgrades, enhanced supervision, and institutional reforms are being prioritized to deliver lasting solutions to water scarcity.
The visit is a follow-up on earlier media briefing by Mr. Governor, where he addressed other concerns of electricity and insecurity. These reflects the administration’s hands-on approach to governance and its unwavering commitment to improving essential public utilities for the benefit of all Nigerlites.
