Tragedy in Ogun State: Mother of Three Dies Suspected Suicide .
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of Abigail Adebayo, a 30-year-old mother of three, who allegedly took her own life amid a disagreement over her planned marriage.
The incident occurred on February 12, 2026, in the Ijebu area of Ogun State. Sources report that Abigail had been in a relationship with her fiancé since September 2025, and they were making arrangements to formalize their union.
The report indicates that trouble began after the man introduced Abigail to his family. The family reportedly objected to the marriage upon discovering she had three children from a previous relationship. This disapproval, later reinforced by the fiancé, reportedly caused her significant emotional distress.
Family sources say Abigail was later found unresponsive in her room and was rushed to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. It is believed she ingested a toxic substance.
In a statement to our source on Tuesday, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer Babaseyi Oluseyi confirmed the incident. “On Thursday, 12/02/2026, it was reported that Abigail Adebayo, 30, ingested Sniper insecticide following a family disagreement over her intended marriage,” she said.
“She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead by the attending physician.”
Oluseyi added that police detectives visited the scene and the hospital as part of ongoing investigations. “Photographs were taken, and no visible marks of violence were found on the body. The investigation is continuing.”
