Fire Service Sector Commander Engages with Niger State Ministry to Boost Collaboration

The newly appointed Sector Commander of the Niger State Fire Service, Mr. Usman F. Usman, along with his officers, paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Niger State, Dr. Idris A. Legbo, at his office.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Legbo warmly received the Sector Commander and his team, congratulating Mr. Usman F. Usman on his appointment. He urged the officers to stay committed, disciplined, and dedicated to their duties, emphasizing the important role of the Fire Service in protecting lives and property across the state. He assured the delegation of the Ministry’s ongoing support and cooperation to improve the Fire Service’s operations.
The Sector Commander expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the chance to interact with the Ministry’s leadership. He mentioned key challenges facing the Service, including a shortage of operational vehicles, worn-out tires, limited water supply, and other logistical issues that reduce their effectiveness. He called for urgent government action to meet these critical needs.
In response, Dr. Legbo acknowledged the concerns and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Fire Service. He announced that His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State, Umaru Muhammed Bago, has approved the construction of eight new fire stations across the state to enhance emergency response and service delivery.
The visit ended with a shared commitment to build stronger collaboration aimed at improving fire safety and emergency management services throughout Niger State.
