El-Rufai Agrees to Cooperate with EFCC Investigation Over Alleged Corruption
Supporters and critics gathered Monday at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja as Nasir El-Rufai arrived. The crowd was divided: some in support of El-Rufai, others calling for a thorough investigation by the anti-corruption agency.
The protest created a tense environment around the EFCC’s Jabi office, though it remained largely peaceful. Security personnel reportedly prevented some members of El-Rufai’s entourage from entering the premises.
El-Rufai responded to an invitation from the commission days after his legal team confirmed he would appear for questioning, following a failed attempt to arrest him at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday.
The former governor later entered the EFCC facility amid ongoing protests outside.
