Yusuf Demonstrates Loyalty to NNPP Amidst Rumors of Political Shifts

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf highlighted his allegiance to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Friday by donning the Kwankwasiyya red cap and displaying the party flag during the inaugural State Executive Council meeting of the year in Abuja.
The meeting, attended by all the state commissioners and Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam—both of whom are subjects of recent speculation about potential political realignments in Kano—was held in the nation’s capital.
By fully showcasing his party colors, the governor issued a definite message, countering rumors of political defection. His appearance diverged from expectations that he might use the gathering to suggest a shift in political stance.
During the meeting, Yusuf called on cabinet members to maintain unity and collaborate effectively. He stressed that harmony within the government is crucial for addressing the needs of the people and for the development of Kano.
Additionally, he outlined key initiatives for his administration, with a particular emphasis on youth empowerment.
Yusuf announced plans to initiate job creation and skills development programs in 2026, aiming to support approximately 50,000 young people and promote growth and stability throughout the state.
