FARMER GOVERNOR BAGO SIGNS 2026 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW

Niger State Governor and farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has signed the 2026 budget into law.
The brief ceremony took place in the council chamber of the Government House in Minna.
The total amount of the 2026 budget, as approved and signed, was over N1.073 trillion, compared to more than N1.031 trillion initially proposed by the farmer governor, indicating an upward revision.
The 2026 budget includes over N783 billion in Capital Expenditure and more than N290 billion in Recurrent Expenditure.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago praised the 10th State Assembly for working tirelessly to ensure the timely passage of the 2026 budget estimate.
He gave the 10th State Assembly a perfect score of 100%, stating that the leadership and members’ quick response to the Executive Arm’s needs is unprecedented, which he believes is a hallmark of democracy.
He also commended the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, Hajiya Aishat Teni Usman, along with her team, for their unwavering effort in planning the budget.
He assured that the budget will be implemented effectively to achieve the desired goals.
Earlier, the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, praised the farmer governor and his team for producing what he called “the best” budget estimate, noting it was easy to scrutinize, and that MDAs cooperated fully to make the process smooth.
He also commended the farmer governor for his wisdom, dedication, and perseverance in providing good governance, and assured the Assembly’s continued collaboration with the Executive Arm to improve the state.
