Governor Bago Welcomes Remaining Rescued Students from St. Mary’s Papiri Abduction

The Niger State government has successfully received the remaining abducted students and teachers from St. Mary, Papiri, who were rescued through federal efforts.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago welcomed the rescued individuals at the Government House in Minna.
He regarded the release of the last group of victims as a significant relief, emphasizing the distress caused by their young age.
The governor expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the service chiefs, and all security agencies for their vital role in reuniting the abductees with their families.
He also praised traditional rulers, religious leaders, community figures, and concerned citizens whose efforts contributed to the successful rescue.
The rescued victims will be reunited with their families following medical examinations.
Representatives from the NSA, including Nuhu Ribadu, Major-General Adamu Garba Laka, and the National Coordinator of the Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), stated that the rescue was carried out under the President’s directive. This involved coordinated operations by the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police, and international partners.
They reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to collaborating with state governments and stakeholders to develop sustainable community security strategies and to protect every Nigerian child’s right to education.
