Police Impound Vehicle Containing 387 Blocks of Cannabis in Bauchi.
From Our Correspondent
The Bauchi State Police Command has reported the impounding of a vehicle containing 387 blocks of suspected cannabis sativa, following an auto crash in the state.
Sani Omolori-Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, made this announcement on Friday during the handover of the seized items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bauchi State Command.
According to Omolori-Aliyu, the collision occurred in Wom Village, Toro Local Government Area, on October 4, 2025, at around 11:30 a.m.
“Initial reports from eyewitnesses and preliminary investigations indicate that the first vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC-459LF, was driven by one Ali Muhammad, a 45-year-old resident of Nabardo Village.
He was transporting the District Head of Nabardo, Suleiman Suleiman, aged 65, along with his family members as they traveled from Bauchi Metropolis to Nabardo Village.
The second vehicle, another white Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA-155GW, was driven by an unidentified individual traveling from Jos, Plateau State, towards Bauchi. This driver attempted to overtake other vehicles without exercising due caution, resulting in a head-on collision with the first vehicle,” he explained.
The Commissioner noted that the occupants of both vehicles sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical treatment. Suleiman suffered a fracture in his left leg and is currently receiving care, while some victims have already been discharged.
During a search of the damaged vehicle at the scene, detectives recovered the 387 blocks of suspected cannabis.
Omolori-Aliyu stated that the police are actively pursuing the unidentified driver to ensure accountability and prompt legal action. He encouraged anyone with information regarding the driver’s identity to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The Bauchi State Police Command is dedicated to maintaining peace and order in our community, and we urge the public to remain calm and cooperative throughout this process.
“2We invite anyone with information that could aid this investigation to contact us. We assure citizens that we are resolutely focused on ensuring justice,” he said.
While receiving the exhibits, Hussaini Umar, Deputy Commandant of the NDLEA, expressed appreciation for the police’s cooperation and synergy, promising to work collaboratively to identify the driver and the vehicle’s owner.
