Nigeria Society of Mining Engineers to Host 24th Annual General Meeting and International Conference in Minna

The Nigeria Society of Mining Engineers (NSME) is set to hold its 24th Annual General Meeting and International Conference at Haske Luxury Hotel in Minna on October 8, 2025.
The 2025 Two -Day conference have the theme; “Sustainable Mining Practices as Crucial Support to Nigeria’s Transition to Green Energy Sources”
During a recent Press briefing at the RATTAWU Conference Hall Minna, Dr. Umar A. Hassan, President,Nigeria Society of Mining Engineers explained that the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers was established in 1989 and incorporated in 1990 to support and advance the country’s minerals and metals industry.
The agenda for the conference will include industry presentations on the main theme and its sub-themes, as well as the sharing of research findings during technical sessions.
Key topics of discussion will address challenges such as the collapse of mining structures and the use of unsafe mineral processing techniques, which pose risks to both the environment and human health.
Additionally, there will be a student session featuring innovation challenges and a quiz competition, aimed at preparing young people to address issues related to mining, mineral processing, and the associated environmental and social challenges.
Dr. Hassan invited all miners in Niger State and across Nigeria to participate in this significant event, emphasizing that their involvement could lead to enhanced safety in mining operations and improved productivity.
This conference promises to be a crucial platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing, aiming to foster a safer and more sustainable mining sector.
