Strategic Partnership: Niger State Government, Niger Foods, and TERRAFORMA Unite to Strengthen Soil Health and Farmers’ Income

In a bold step towards agricultural transformation, Niger Foods Security System and Logistics Company Limited recently hosted a strategic meeting with TERRAFORMA, an international agricultural solutions investor, to explore collaborations that will improve soil health and enhance farmers’ profitability across Nigeria. The engagement reflects Niger Foods’ strong commitment to building sustainable partnerships that advance food security and rural development.
Representing TERRAFORMA at the meeting were Mr. Miles Sorel from Denver, Colorado, and Mr. Leye Akinrinade from Nigeria. The duo presented TERRAFORMA’s global expertise in restoring soil functionality, emphasizing solutions that not only increase crop yields but also secure long-term environmental sustainability. Their discussions highlighted the urgent need for innovative approaches to address widespread soil degradation in Nigerian farming communities.
Highlight
of the engagement was the introduction of TERRAFORMA’s advanced bioreactor technology, which cultivates living and local microbes. These microbes are essential for restoring soil biodiversity, enhancing nutrient availability, and reducing input costs for farmers. By adopting this technology, farmers stand to achieve higher productivity while transitioning to more sustainable farming practices.
At the close of the meeting, both parties expressed optimism about the partnership. Niger Foods reaffirmed its readiness to integrate cutting-edge solutions into its operations, while TERRAFORMA pledged to provide technical expertise and ongoing support to achieve shared goals. The collaboration is expected to reshape soil management practices, improve farmer livelihoods, and strengthen food security not only in Niger State but across Nigeria.
During the visit, the TERRAFORMA team also toured key agricultural sites, including Kure Farm, the Minna Airport, and Tagwai, gaining firsthand insights into the state’s agricultural landscape.
