Parents Urged to Engage in Their Children’s Education for Academic Excellence.

By Hassan Danladi Idris

As students enjoy the end of term break, parents and guardians are encouraged to actively monitor their children’s moral conduct and learning processes to achieve academic excellence.

In a recent interview, Alhaji Sirajo Darda’u, the Principal of Federal Government College Minna, emphasized the vital role parents play in shaping their children’s behavior both at home and school. He noted that habits and attitudes developed at home are often difficult for schools to change without parental support.

Darda’u called on parents and guardians to collaborate with school authorities to foster discipline among students.

He expressed concern over the prevalence of lateness and other behavioral issues, attributing them to a lack of engagement from some parents regarding their children’s education.

He stressed that it is a fundamental right for children to receive education and that they should be encouraged in every possibility.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of a collective effort in achieving the necessary attitudinal changes that ensure a sound educational experience.

Darda’u criticized the neglect of some parents towards their children’s adherence to school dress codes, punctuality, and timely payment of school fees, which particularly affects day students.

In addition, he commended the security agencies, including the police and vigilante corps in Chanchaga, for their ongoing efforts in addressing the challenges posed by illegal miners in the school environment.

The Principal reassured parents of the college’s commitment to providing a conducive learning atmosphere while urging all stakeholders in the education sector to support initiatives that enhance understanding and promote academic excellence.
