NBA Minna Branch Condemns Attack on Magistrate and Kidnapping of Travelers.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Minna Branch is deeply troubled by the recent attack on Magistrate Benjamin Zakari, who was injured while returning from an official workshop in Minna. During this incident, several innocent travelers were also kidnapped on the Kontagora–Tegina Highway.
Isyaku Barau, the Chairman of the NBA Minna Branch, expressed in a press release that this attack is not just a serious threat to the safety of judicial officers but also highlights the dangerous circumstances they face while performing their duties.
He pointed out that magistrates and judges are often forced to travel in unsafe conditions, putting them at risk of encounters with criminals and other dangers.
The NBA Minna Branch is committed to supporting the safety and well-being of all judicial officers in Niger State.He urge the State Government to take immediate action to ensure safe and dignified transportation for judges and to prioritize their welfare, as this is essential for a fair justice system.
Additionally, the Association is calling on both state and federal governments to take stronger measures against the increasing insecurity caused by bandits in Niger State.’ The safety of citizens is a fundamental responsibility of the government, and they must respond decisively to the current rise in violence’.
The NBA Minna Branch also extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to Magistrate Benjamin Zakari and calls for the immediate release of all those still held by the bandits. Ensuring their safe return is urgent and vital for the respect of human life.
