Niger State Police Clarify Incident on Kontagora-Tegina Road Attempted Robbery.

The Niger State Police Command has released a statement addressing an attempted robbery and kidnapping incident that occurred in the early hours of September 11 along the Kontagora-Tegina road.
At approximately 12:15 AM, suspected armed individuals attempted to obstruct a commercial vehicle with registration number MAK 238 XA at Tudun-Fulani.
The vehicle’s driver managed to evade the assailants, prompting them to open fire on the fleeing vehicle. Tragically, two passengers in the front seat, identified as Zakari Benjamin and Samaila, sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.
Law enforcement officials from Division ‘A’ Kontagora responded swiftly to the scene, transporting the injured individuals to a nearby hospital for prompt medical attention. Fortunately, none of the occupants in the vehicle were abducted during the incident.
In the wake of the attack, police tactical teams and various security agencies mobilized to the area in pursuit of the fleeing perpetrators, who have since escaped into the surrounding forest. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The Niger State Police Command urges the public to exercise caution and advises drivers against undertaking journeys late at night to ensure their safety.
