Niger State Governor Umaru Bago Advocates for Cattle Ranching Among Fulani Communities.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has reiterated the importance of educating the Fulani communities about the benefits of cattle ranching.
He believes that this practice can lead to improved livestock management and help address the insecurities stemming from conflicts between farmers and herders.
During a courtesy visit from representatives of various Fulani groups, organized by the Madako Foundation for conflict resolution and empowerment, Governor Bago emphasized that ranching stands as the most effective approach for livestock management.
He urged the Fulani people to adopt this practice, highlighting its potential to boost their income through enhanced value chain production.
Acknowledging the hard work and resilience of the Fulani community, Bago recognized the state government’s efforts in identifying individuals engaged in criminal activities and warned against the invasion of farmlands.
He also encouraged Fulani families to prioritize the education of their children, commending the CEO of the Madako Foundation for her initiatives aimed at facilitating the return of Fulani children to school. The governor invited educated Fulani individuals to come to Niger State to enhance nomadic education.
Dr. Abubakar Umar Girei, who represented the Lamido of Adamawa, praised Governor Bago for his ongoing support of the Fulani community. He noted that the governor has consistently included them in various initiatives and expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to the Madako Foundation, which has been instrumental in improving the lives of Fulani individuals in the state.
Dr. Girei stated that the Fulani community is proud to support the governor’s progressive vision and is ready to collaborate with the Niger State government to identify and address criminal activities, fostering peace throughout the region.
Hauwa Ibrahim Madako, the CEO of the Madako Foundation, shared that her organization was founded following her personal experience with a child who had a neurological condition.
The foundation’s mission is to assist families with children who have special needs, support school enrollment for dropouts, and promote conflict resolution and empowerment, with over 2,000 children benefiting nationwide.
Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, the Taraba State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, praised Governor Bago for his commitment to the Fulani community and his dedication to empowering citizens throughout his tenure, citing the governor’s consistent support during his time as a federal legislator.
Haj. Maimuna Mohammed, the Director General of School Reforms, commended the Madako Foundation for its efforts to encourage school enrollment among children, noting that the initiative complements the state government’s plans to build model school facilities in Fulani settlements across the state.
