Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Coordinator Resigns from APC.
Kabiru Marafa, the Zamfara State Coordinator for the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign during the 2023 elections, has officially departed from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Marafa, a former senator, who represented Zamfara Central between 2011 and 2019, made this pivotal decision following a two-day consultative Forum meeting in Kaduna.
The communique released by the Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum, his political base, indicated that Marafa’s entire political structure in Zamfara has also withdrawn its support from the ruling party.
The forum’s statement cited grievances of injustice, mistrust, and the APC-led government’s neglect of the people of Zamfara as the primary reasons for this departure. While Marafa’s exit has been corroborated by close associates, it remains uncertain whether a formal resignation letter has been submitted to the party.
Supporters of Marafa have also mentioned that they have not yet selected a new political party but plan to announce their future political direction soon.
The communique expressed strong discontent with the APC’s national leadership and President Bola Tinubu, claiming that they have deviated from the party’s foundational principles.
The group further alleged that Marafa’s faction was overlooked in Zamfara, notwithstanding its significant contribution to the party’s electoral success in the presidential election.
Additionally, the forum criticized the APC-led government for politicizing insecurity in Zamfara. It highlighted the recent Kaura Namoda House of Assembly by-election, where substantial security measures were implemented for the polls. At the same time, rural communities that had previously endured severe bandit attacks were reportedly left unprotected.
