Stakeholders of Maikunkele/Tudun Fulani Call for Legal Action Against AEDC.
I would like to bring to your attention a critical issue regarding the billing for our feeders in August.
As you may know, the Maikunkele and Tudun Fulani feeders have been experiencing a total blackout for the past 21 days, and unfortunately, we do not have a clear timeline for resolving this issue.
This prolonged power outage has created significant challenges for our community, including a halt in business activities, increased insecurity, and health concerns. Primary healthcare facilities in our area are struggling to operate effectively, and residents are having difficulty accessing essential necessities.
While we understand that these challenges are not the fault of the regional office or its staff, we must emphasize that we cannot justify payments for services that have not been provided. Paying the charges for August would imply our acceptance of an unfair and exploitative situation.
We call on AEDC management to provide transparency regarding how these current charges were calculated, especially given the extensive service disruption we have experienced.
In solidarity, we urge all stakeholders to refrain from making payments until further clarification is provided. It is essential for us to unite in advocating for our community and to seek a resolution through the appropriate channels.
We are currently mobilizing legal resources to issue a demand notice to AEDC, requesting an explanation for the current charges within seven days. After this period, we will consider further legal actions if necessary.
